Book News & WoW : Go BRZK by Michael Grant

I know when I finish reading an incredible book, I'm looking for more.
I'm looking for those author interviews, extra chapters, anything additional referring to that great book.
Michael Grant had the same idea.

I recently got an e-mail that told me of Michael Grant's new series, Go BZRK.
Yes, he's writing a hard copy of the book, but there will also be add-ons to the book, and
websites that put you in the world of Go BZRK.

This is the way Jennifer, the woman who e-mailed me about this, described Go BZRK.

The missing son of a U.N. diplomat... the reemergence of a strange organization... a pair of society twins caught in the middle... this is just the beginning of "Go BZRK," a new transmedia experience from author Michael Grant.
Transmedia, being interactive through the web, puzzles and more.

Here some snippets of an interview with Michael Grant regarding the new book and transmedia:
On Transmedia: Most people take a single story and reproduce it on various platforms. My philosophy has been to make each element - ARG, app, web, book - a thing unto itself, each revealing some aspect of the world of BZRK.
On Length of Project: There'll be a lot of content coming out, but the experience really gets underway at the end of the month… just in time to distract the kids from their schoolwork.
On 'BZRK':t's a battle for the soul and freedom of the human race carried out simultaneously in the world we know, and in a world that you're not going to expect. It's a world where if you make a false move, you're going to lose your mind.
In Conclusion, It's going to be vast, bloody, and beautiful.
There are some websites out now that are tied in with the novel:
http://nexushumanus.com/ and http://societytwins.com/

Nexus Humanus, from what I understand, is a way to unify everyone. The slogan is:
"World Peace, Sustainable Happiness, One Life at a Time."
You get H-Creds, or Happiness Creds, when you do certain things, like make an account and recruit friends.
Here is my account. (Lemme know if that link works)
There's a countdown on the homepage, which counts down to a "journey of a lifetime."

Society Twins is the blog of two girls who live in the world of BZRK.
Their brother is the one who is missing.
Reading the comments are fun. I'm not sure if they are included in this interactive world, or they're actual people.
I haven't watched the videos yet, but I'll let you know what they're about and how they are.

I guess this could be a Waiting of Wednesday also, since I'm really interested in this book,
and the publishers put a lot of thought and hardwork into these websites and such.
And it seems so AWESOME!
I'll be exploring both websites later. Let me know if you find anything!

Broetry by Brian McGackin
Description: As contemporary poets deliver entire volumes on subjects like incest, menstruation, and pine cones, regular guys are left scratching their heads. Who will speak for Everyman? Who will articulate his love for Xbox 360, for Mama Celeste’s Frozen Pizza, for any movie starring Bruce Willis?

Enter Broetry—a stunning debut from a dazzling new literary voice. “Broet Laureate” Brian McGackin goes where no poet has gone before—to Star Wars conventions, to frat parties, to video game tournaments, and beyond. With poems like “Ode to That Girl I Dated for, Like, Two Months Sophomore Year” and “My Friends Who Don’t Have Student Loans,” we follow the Bro from his high school graduation and college experience through a “quarter-life crisis” and beyond. Packaged in a small gifty hardcover and illustrated with tasteful black and white illustrations,Broetry is a funny and sly look at modern masculinity.

I just got an e-mail about this book, and I'm actually pretty psyched about it.
All of the Quirk books I've read have been really funny, and this looks like no exception!
Look for it in bookstores July 5, 2011.Goodreads

Dearly Departed by Lia Habel

Description

Love conquers all, so they say. But can Cupid’s arrow pierce the hearts of the living and the dead—or rather, the undead? Can a proper young Victorian lady find true love in the arms of a dashing zombie?
The year is 2195. The place is New Victoria—a high-tech nation modeled on the manners, mores, and fashions of an antique era. A teenager in high society, Nora Dearly is far more interested in military history and her country’s political unrest than in tea parties and debutante balls. But after her beloved parents die, Nora is left at the mercy of her domineering aunt, a social-climbing spendthrift who has squandered the family fortune, and now plans to marry her niece off for money. For Nora, no fate could be more horrible—until she’s nearly kidnapped by an army of walking corpses.
But fate is just getting started with Nora. Catapulted from her world of drawing-room civility, she’s suddenly gunning down ravenous zombies alongside mysterious black-clad commandos and confronting “The Laz,” a fatal virus that raises the dead—and hell along with them. Hardly ideal circumstances. Then Nora meets Bram Griswold, a young soldier who is brave, handsome, noble . . . and dead. But as is the case with the rest of his special undead unit, luck and modern science have enabled Bram to hold on to his mind, his manners, and his body parts. And when his bond of trust with Nora turns to tenderness, there’s no turning back. Eventually, they know, the disease will win, separating the star-crossed lovers forever. But until then, beating or not, their hearts will have what they desire.
In Dearly, Departed, steampunk meets romance meets walking-dead thriller, spawning a madly imaginative novel of rip-roaring adventure, spine-tingling suspense, and macabre comedy that forever redefines the concept of undying love.

The cover is gorgeous, divine, lovely, insert another adjective for beautiful. And after Pride & Prejudice and Zombies, I've been adding a lot of zombie books to my wish-list. Eh. And this kinda reminds me of the Parasol Protectorate series.

Dearly,Departed comes out October 2011.

And I shall be revealing the winner of my giveaway tomorrow!

Jessica Rules the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey
(Jessica # 2)

"When Jessica Packwood found out she was a Romanian vampire princess, she had the shock of her teenage life. Turns out that was the easy part. Now, married to Prince Lucius Vladescu, she has to claim her throne and convince a vampire nation she’s fit to be their queen. But Jess can’t even order a decent meal from her castle’s Romanian staff, let alone deal with devious undead subjects who would love to see her fail.

And when Lucius is accused of murdering a vampire Elder and imprisoned without the blood he needs, Jessica finds herself alone, fighting for both their survivals.

Desperate to clear her husband’s name and win his release, Jess enlists the help of her best friend Mindy Stankowicz and Lucius’s mysterious Italian cousin, Raniero Lovatu. But both of them are keeping some dark secrets. Can Jess figure out who to trust – and how to rise to power – before she loses everything, including the vampire she loves?

Full of romance, mystery, and danger, the highly anticipated sequel to Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side shows that sometimes a princess has to earn her “happily ever after” – with a sharpened stake in hand."

Jessica Rules the Dark Side is the sequel to the amazing Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side. When I finished that, I was so desperate  to find out what happened next that I read the chapters on Beth's website.
And I only found out there was a sequel about two days ago,
So this is a perfect WoW!
Unfortunately, we have to wait a lot more Wednesdays for this one....
It comes out January 9th 2012.

Princess and heir to the throne of Thorvaldor, Nalia's led a privileged life at court. But everything changes when it's revealed, just after her sixteenth birthday, that she is a false princess, a stand-in for the real Nalia, who has been hidden away for her protection. Cast out with little more than the clothes on her back, the girl now called Sinda must leave behind the city of Vivaskari, her best friend, Keirnan, and the only life she's ever known.

Sinda is sent to live with her only surviving relative, an aunt who is a dyer in a distant village. She is a cold, scornful woman with little patience for her newfound niece, and Sinda proves inept at even the simplest tasks. But when Sinda discovers that magic runs through her veins - long-suppressed, dangerous magic that she must learn to control - she realizes that she can never learn to be a simple village girl.

Returning to Vivaskari for answers, Sinda finds her purpose as a wizard scribe, rediscovers the boy who saw her all along, and uncovers a secret that could change the course of Thorvaldor's history, forever.

Fake royalty, romance, and secrets? WHAT'S BETTER?
All seriousness, I love books with princesses, castles, and all that jazz.
And the cover is pretty beautiful :)

Then I Met My Sister by Christine Hurley Deriso
"Shannon has been the backdrop of my life since the moment I was born.

Summer Stetson lives inside a shrine to her dead sister. Eclipsed by Shannon's greatness, Summer feels like she's a constant disappointment to her controlling, Type A momzilla and her all-too-quiet dad. Her best friend Gibson believes Summer's C average has more to do with rebelliousness than smarts, but she knows she can never measure up—academically or otherwise.

On her birthday, Summer receives a secret gift from her aunt: Shannon's diary. Suddenly, the one-dimensional vision of her sister becomes all too solid. Is this love-struck, mom-bashing badass the same Shannon everyone raves about? Determined to understand her troubled sister, Summer dives headfirst down a dark rabbit hole and unearths painful family secrets. Each revelation brings Summer closer to the mysterious and liberating truth about her family—and herself."

P.S : Is it bad if my last four posts have been weekly memes?
The answer is yes. Very bad.
I've been lacking on reviews, so I will post my review of Hush, Hush tomorrow.
AND I MEAN IT THIS TIME.

Back to the book:  Then I Met My Sister sounds creepy and amazing, qualities that every book should have. And it doesn't hurt that the cover is beautiful:)

Original Post

Falling For Hamlet by Michelle Ray
Falling for Hamlet retells the familiar Shakespearean tragedy from the point of view of a feisty, empowered Ophelia, who is neither suicidal nor anybody’s pushover. In a glittering world of celebrities, paparazzi, and reality TV, Ophelia navigates the minefield of teen life in a royal family gone crazy.

I love retellings of stories, and Hamlet just makes it better! In Hate List, Nick's favorite book was Hamlet, and I'm thinking if I read it, I'll know what they were actually talking about in the book :D

Another retelling of an old classic is Jane, a retelling of Jane Eyre.
Forced to drop out of an esteemed East Coast college after the sudden death of her parents, Jane Moore takes a nanny job at Thornfield Park, the estate of Nico Rathburn, an iconic rock star on the brink of a huge comeback. Practical and independent, Jane reluctantly becomes entranced by her magnetic and brooding employer, and finds herself in the midst of a forbidden romance. But there's a mystery at Thornfield, and Jane's much-envied relationship with Nico is tested by a torturous secret from his past.

I guess this has become a double Waiting on Wednesday, but enjoy nonetheless!
