Review:Anna and the French Kiss

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Also by author: Lola and the Boy Next Door
Official Website
Description: Anna was looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. So she's less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris - until she meets Etienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Etienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.
But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romance near-misses end with their long-awaited french kiss? Stephanie Perkins keeps the romantic tension crackling and the attraction high in a debut guaranteed to make toes tingle and hearts melt.

Review: I would just like to point that this is the first time I'm actually  reading the description, because I had to type it. I just knew it was that romance book where the girl goes to boarding school in Paris. And I have to agree that there was a lot of tingling toes and melting hearts, in my case anyway.

Ugh. This book is just so good. Since I have zero romance in my life, this book was a wonderful filler.Maybe I should actually go out and socialize, and find my own Etienne. In Staten Island, I don't think he exists.

On that note, Anna and the French Kiss tells the tale of Anna Oliphant, who gets sent to boarding school in Paris. At first it's terrible because A) she does not speak french B) she knows nobody C)she doesn't want to seem 'too American'. Ya know, like white sneakers and American flag shirt. Oh yea, she also has OCD and over thinks everything. But it's a cute combination.

Perkins descriptions of France made me actually feel like I was there. I was able to picture myself actually with Anna at the landmarks, like the Notre-Dame, and everything was just beautiful.

You would think that the story would be very boring because it's been done soo many times: Girl goes to boarding school,  hates it, makes a friend, makes more than a friend, ends up loving it, etc. And yes, it's actually just like what I explained. But Perkins makes a funny and unforgettable story about a girl who goes to France for school.

Not only is the story funny, but it's also packed with awkward romance, which is the best kind. I cannot tell you how many times I was reading in between a humongous smile on my face. Sometimes I couldn't even get the words out, I was smiling so much. And it's really kinda lame when your brother comes over with his cute friends, and you're sitting there, reading out loud, smiling at a book. Yea, it's kinda embarrassing. Don't read the book in public because you'll be squealing and smiling to yourself and you'll look mental.

Mhm, not sure what else to say about the book. I'm glad I actually purchased it because I can underline all the cute passages and grip it when I got angry. And throw it. Yup, definitely glad I bought it. If you haven't read this book, please do. It's a cute romance that will definitely make you believe in cute, adorable Englishmen.
"Because I was right. For the two of us, home isn't a place. It's a person.
                                           And we're finally home."
